This happens quite often when using reverse. If you do not put the nozzle cover on the front of unit where the pulp come out, it shoots the pulp out at you. Rating D+ I like juicing my greens which saved this unit from getting a zero or a one (1). Be prepared on spooning the pulp back through so you can get all the juice out that you can and that still might not be enough. Faster than my Jack Lalane which is also a reason I purchased this unit.
The carrots sounded like they were creaking and crunching when I put them through. I have a Jack Lalane juicer and wanted to upgrade without to much expense. I tried juicing beets and the pulp got stuck in the nozzle head and I had too reverse the unit numerous times. I found that out the hard way. So you better have the screen on your juice catching cup or the pulp will mix with your juice and you will have a smoothie instead. Cleaning is OK. Just ask my shirt and counter top.
before you put them in. Oh Well , live and learn. I found beet pulp was still stuck on the front of the auger/nozzle area when I took it out for cleaning. I should of gone with the Sampson or the Omega or better yet, saved up and got one of the $400 units that have dual augers like Green Power, GreenStar etc. What surprised me was that this unit was noisy.
You also have too cut the vegetables/fruits into strips, etc. Also when juicing soft fruits/veggies, some of the pulp comes out the juice output area. Beet stains are hard to get out. Good thing I did not mortgage my home.
I wanted some thing to juice my greens and then the fruits/veggies. You have to take the pulp and put it back in to get the additional juice out it that did not get out the first time because it didn't have enough pressure built up. It masticates or crushes soft fruits/veggies satifactorily, but beware when juicing hard fruit/veggies.
Accidentally clicked 5 stars when I meant to click a big fat ZERO and can't seem to edit the star review. A huge disappointment and the shipping took WAAAY longer than promised. For all the buzz about how great this product is, I actually preferred the cheap Wal Mart juicers with the spinning basket, centrifugal juicers I think they're called. This one is sooooo slooooow and bulky, takes up too much space and I can still see the foam which indicates oxygen getting into the juice and diminishing the live enzymes. Too expensive and not at all worth it.
